Open Question: What's happened to music?

Just thinking about popular music and how the quality has gone down. I am a fan of a lot of rock, anything like these: metal like Guns n Roses, soft rock like Coldplay, Indie and alternative rock like Kings of Leon, 70's Punk, and Britpop and music from the Madchester scene. I have always been a fan of pop and pop rock, as well as urban music, but I think the quality of the stuff has gone down rapidly. 8 or 9 years ago you had artists like Avril Lavigne and Justin Timberlake, and songs like Dilemma and Where Is The Love. Now it's all this manufactured crap like Miley Cyrus and Bieber. There is some good quality stuff left like Adele, but how hard is it to find any decent rock music in the charts?
